Tomato gojju

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes (chopped) - 4
  • Green chillies (split) - 1
  • Jaggery - 1 small piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped cilantro leaves - 1/4 bunch
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  • Chopped curry leaves - 4
  • Split white Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • coconut oil - 1 Tbsp

Method

  1. Boil the tomatoes on the stove. Do not pressure cook.
  2. Let it cool. Once cooled, mash it.
  3. Add the split green chilli, jaggery and a little salt. Mix.
  4. Add the finely chopped cilantro leaves and mix. Gojju is donne.
  5. In a tempering pan, heat the oil.
  6. Add the mustard seeds.
  7. When it starts to splutter, add the Asafoetida and the urad dal.
  8. When the urad dal starts to redden, add the chopped curry leaves.
  9. Add the temper to the gojju in the pan.
