Saaru powder
My mom's saaru / rasam powder
Ingredients
- Coriander seeds (dhaniya) - 3 Tbsp
- Cumin seeds (jeera) - 1/2 Tbsp
- Fenugreek seeds (methi) - 1/2 Tbsp
- Split white urad dal - 1/4 Tbsp
- Dried whole red chiiles - 5
- Coconut oil - 1/2 Tbsp
- Curry leaves - 5
Method
- In a flat pan, toss in the oil.
- On a low flame, fry all the ingredients
- When the white urad dal starts browning / turning reddish, move the pan away to cool.
- Once cool, use a grinder to grind into a rough powder.
- Store in an airtight container, in a cool dark place.
