Hurli chutney

My mom's hurli chutney

Ingredients

  • Hurli (horse gram seeds) - 1 cup
  • Tamarind - quarter size
  • Dried whole red chillies - 1
  • Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Soconut oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Water - as required

Method

  1. Heat the oil and roast the horse gram.
  2. In a blender, grind the roasted horse gram, tamarind, dried red chillies, grated coconut, asfoetida and salt with a little water. The blended mixture should be a thick paste.
